On Monday, Dominicanos USA had the enormous pleasure of participating in Generation Citizen’s Rhode Island Civics Day, where our own Rhode Island State Director Natalia Rosa and State Organizer Isseniel Rodriguez served as judges during the event. Generation Citizen is an organization dedicated to ensuring that every student receives a sound civically oriented education that empowers them to become engaged members of our democracy.
Middle school and high school students from across Providence, RI gathered at the Rhode Island State House to present the culmination of their semester long civics project to a panel of judges, made up of different civic and community leaders from the state. Our team was completely impressed by the projects and ideas presented throughout the day. It was truly inspiring and uplifting to interact with a group of student leaders that are not only doing incredible work but setting a tremendous example for their peers about what it means to hone one’s civic responsibility. “It was remarkable to see so many students excited about civic participation”, said Isseniel. “It makes our hard work at Dominicanos USA worthwhile when we can see an impact in our next generation of leaders.” Congratulations to all the students at Civics Day! You are all winners in our book. Also, many thanks to Generation Citizen for asking us to participate!
